Conditions of Service in the Hongkong Company (Submarine Miners) Royal Engineers.

Term of enlistment.
Pay.
Recruits to be enlisted for 5 years with the option of re-enlisting if recommended by the Commanding Royal Engineer for a further term of 5 years and again for another 5 years, making in all 15 years.
1. Regimental pay daily:-
Havildar major 66 cents
Havildar 41 do.
Naique 30 do.
Bugler 27 do.
Sapper 22 do.
Boy under 16 years 22 do.
2. Engineer pay for every day excepting Sundays, when the soldier is present and fit for duty, and not in confinement or undergoing punishment, in addition to Regimental pay.
If rated as Engine drivers, Boatmen, Submarine Miners or Mechanics:
Very superior 28 cents
Superior 20 do.
Skilled 14 do.
Gratuity If not qualified as above, 7 cents.
After 10 years' service a gratuity of one year's pay and after 15 years' service a gratuity of 18 months' pay, and if discharged on account of disability
